To make your baby feel both comfortable and secure, you need to use the MOBY wrap in the right way. There are several methods to use this babywear, and we will discuss all of them in this article. You can wear the MOBY wrap around yourself and try beforehand the different ways it can be worn, such as newborn hold, hug hold, hip hold, and kangaroo hold.

Wearing the MOBY Wrap in Several Ways

Getting the MOBY wrap ready

Read the following instructions on how to wear the MOBY wrap around your waist:

  1. Find the center of the wrap based on the tag used for identification.
  2. Place the wrap below your stomach with the tag facing the other way.
  3. Cross both sides on the back and pull them up over your shoulder to form an “X.
  4. Next, take all of the fabric on the front and put it through the middle section.
  5. Take both fabric pieces in the back and cross them.
  6. Bring the rest of the fabric in the front and tie them tightly.

Newborn Hold

If you have a newborn baby up to three months old, you can try the Newborn Hold. After you wear the MOBY wrap as above, do the following:

  1. Take the shoulder piece which is closest to you and open it to create a pocket.
  2. Slide the baby down into this pocket.
  3. Spread the fabric over the baby’s shoulders, back, and bottom.
  4. Ensure that the baby’s legs are in a fetal position.
  5. Pull the fabric with the logo over the baby’s body for additional support.
  6. Place your baby’s head on your chest into the shoulder section.

Hug Hold

Once you get the MOBY wrap ready and tie it around your waist, as stated in the beginning, you can also try the Hug Hold technique with your little one. The Hug Hold is suitable for babies between 3-5 months who can stretch their legs. With this method, the baby will be facing you.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Take the shoulder piece closest to you and slide your baby’s leg through the hole.
  2. Then, put the other leg into the hole of the other shoulder piece.
  3. Spread the fabric and make sure it covers the baby’s back and shoulders.
  4. Take the middle fabric with the logo and cover your baby’s bottom side opening their legs a bit.

Hip Hold

If your baby is older than 5 months, then you can implement the Hip Hold method regarding wearing the MOBY wrap.

To achieve that, do the following:

  1. Wrap the fabric through the upper part of your body until you create an “X” in the front.
  2. Move the “X” on one side of your body.
  3. Put one of the baby’s legs into the shoulder hole that is closest to you, like holding them on your hip.
  4. Slide the other leg into the shoulder hole of the other side.
  5. Spread the shoulder fabrics over your baby’s body.
  6. Pull up the fabric with the logo over the baby’s back and shoulders.

Kangaroo Hold

Finally, let’s talk about the Kangaroo Hold technique, recommended for babies of 8 pounds and above.

Here is what to do:

  1. Wrap the fabric across your waist, placing the tag in the middle.
  2. Make an “X” on your back, crossing the fabric ends and bringing them to the front over your shoulders.
  3. Place the baby into the middle section (with the logo) of the MOBY wrap and hold them securely on the next steps.
  4. Take the end of the fabric and bring it over your opposite hip, under the baby’s leg.
  5. Repeat the same step with the other end of the fabric on the other side.
  6. Next, pull both fixed ends tight and wrap them around your hips and back. Tie a double knot.

Tips About Babywear

Before you leave the house after putting on the MOBY wrap, make sure that your baby is comfortable as well as secure. The baby’s face must be visible, and you can place the baby to face you or the other way, depending on the baby’s age and your preferences.

I also suggest putting on the MOBY wrap at home as it is much easier and more convenient. An important thing to be mindful of is that such a wrap needs to be very tight to provide the necessary support. You can always loosen it up if it is very tight, but it is very hard to tighten it once the baby is in the wrap.

Another essential thing to keep in mind is that the baby needs to get used to the wrap. Hence, if your baby doesn’t sit calmly, you don’t need to worry. Instead, give them a couple of minutes to get used to it every day until the baby feels comfortable and secure enough and starts liking the wrap.

By wearing your little one in a MOBY wrap, your child is always close to you, and you are free to do activities around the house or outside without any worries.

The fabric is also light and breathable, intended to be comfortable both for you and the baby. Holding your baby with a MOBY wrap will create a special bond between you and your little one, making a comfortable carry for going on adventures outside together.
